Tackling Self-Doubt
With Claire Husselbee
At this point in my life, I’ve been through enough situations that triggered my self-doubt that I’ve become able to recognise it quite early on. Whether that’s an event I’m planning, doing a session for an important client, a challenging piece of music… Whatever the trigger, the response is usually similar.
RINGS A BELL?
I bet you know what I’m talking about — those times when there’s a task ahead of you that you’re dreading. Suddenly you’d do anything else but the thing that you know you should be doing. You clean your apartment, organise your calendar, get errands out of the way. Anything but the thing that brings you anxiety. Rings a bell? :)
GROWTH DOESN’T HAPPEN IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE
I’m no stranger to this but over time I’ve learned to recognise it. Recognise that it’s actually my brain trying to keep me safe, albeit a bit misguided. And recognise that those are precisely the situations where personal growth happens. Because, as much as I wish it was the case, it won’t be in your comfort zone.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
So what about you? Do you know how to recognise the signs of self-doubt and work with them? In the fifth episode of the podcast, I invited a flute, clarinet and saxophone player and a certified life coach Claire Husselbee. We chat all things self-doubt, Claire reveals what life coaching is all about and how musicians can benefit from it.
